ProBiz Cup
The ProBiz Cup sees the ten grandmasters from the 2026 XTX Markets London Chess Classic plus some specially invited guests pairing up with leaders from business for a fun, but very competitive team tournament. Amateurs and professionals meet on the morning of the event and have one hour to prepare together before the action begins. Each team then plays three rounds of rapidplay chess, with the players taking alternate moves. No consultation is allowed but each team can call two one-minute time-outs to confer about the game.
The 2026 ProBiz Cup will take place in London on Monday 30th November. If you are interested in buying a place to take part, please email info@chessinschools.co.uk. All money raised goes towards supporting the work of Chess in Schools and Communities.

10.00 – 10.30 Player Arrival.
10:30 – 11.30 Grandmaster introductions and photo-shoot. Grandmaster and player preparation
11.30 – 12.30 Round 1
12.30 – 13.30 Lunch and further preparation for the afternoon games.
13.30 – 14.30 Round 2
14.30 – 15.30 Round 3
Game Format
Team Swiss tournament over three rounds. Scoring 2-1-0. Rapidplay: 20 minutes for all moves + 5 seconds increment per move. The professional makes the first move and no conferring is allowed. Teams may call two one-minute timeouts during which they may confer on the game. In the event of a tie after three rounds, a blitz game between the amateurs will determine the winner of the competition.
