Romain Edouard


Romain (FIDE 2659) has been a GM since 2009.


He has been playing chess since the age of five, and joined his first tournament in 2001.


Edouard was trained by fellow French grandmaster Olivier Renet during his adolescence.


He won the 2006 European Youth Chess Championship U16 category at the age of 15, and in 2007 earned his International Master title. Amongst open tournaments, he won at Zaragoza 2008, Bad Wiessee 2008 Andorra 2009, Echternach 2009 (and 2010), Hastings 2010, and Clermont-Ferrand 2011.


There have also been victories in closed events, at Grand Prix de Bordeaux 2007, Antwerp 2011 and Nancy 2012.


In 2012, Édouard became co-champion of his country by winning the French Championship alongside Christian Bauer, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and Etienne Bacrot.


Gawain Jones


Gawain (FIDE 2661) hit the headlines in 1997 when he became the youngest player in the world ever to beat an International Master in an official tournament game.


He has represented England in the World Junior and World Youth Championships on many occasions and since 2008 has been one of England's highest rated players.


Gawain secured his GM title with successful results at the 2nd EU Individual Open Championship Liverpool 2006, European Club Cup Fügen 2006 and 4NCL 2006/7 season.


He shared first place at the London Chess Classic FIDE Open 2010, ahead of Boris Avrukh and Abhijeet Gupta. He won the Bunratty Masters in 2011 and in the same year he came first in the Commonwealth Chess Championship in Ekurhuleni.


Playing for England at the Chess Olympiads of 2008 (Dresden) and 2010 (Khanty-Mansiysk) he contributed scores of 50% and 75%, respectively.

Date/Time (Game 6): Monday 15th December at 1500.



Time Limit: Time Limit: 40 moves in 100 mins, then all remaining moves in 50 mins, with 30 secs per move throughout.


Arbiter for Game 6 will be David Sedgwick who will prepare the FIDE rating report for submission.


A draw for colours will take place prior to Game 1.
