The 7th London Chess Classic school events took place at Olympia from 4 to 11 December 2015.

 

 

There were record attendances, with 1718 children representing 101 schools from Bristol to Bradford playing 4141 tournament games across 6 days.

CSC also organised the English Junior Rapidplay on behalf of the English Chess Federation, which was filled to capacity weeks in advance. All results here and photos here.

These events ran from 09.30am to 3.30pm each day, with a break for a packed lunch. All primary and secondary schools were invited to participate.

 

Space was limited to 400 children per day and priority given to current CSC schools.

Bradford pupils visit London to take part in national chess tournament

Pupils at a Bradford primary school have visited London to take part in a chess tournament involving schools from around the country.

 

 

The team from Horton Park School at the London Chess Classic

 

Horton Park Primary is the first school in Bradford to work with Chess in Schools and Communities, a London-based charity that works to promote chess, mainly in primary schools in the UK.

 

 
   

It has helped numerous children develop a love of chess, and earlier this month a team from the school attended the annual London Chess Classic in Olympia.

 

CSC tutor Nick Mullan, who has been working with the children for over a year, said: “The children have all made excellent progress with their chess since we started the programme around 18 months ago
